Marking & Scribing

With more than 40,000 machines installed in the world, customers count on the complete traceability solutions integrating marking and automatic decoding from Technifor.

Selecting the best direct marking technology for the application is critical to achieving success. Since each technology has its own advantages and limitations, we offer you a first a view of what could be a first level of selection based on 5 major marking criteria:

 - Speed
 - Quality
 - Depth of marking with their own level of noise
 - Investment

Marking Technogy

 LASER
   - YAG
   - Fiber
   - LaserTop

Using a light beam as opposed to a metal stylus, is an excellent choice when needing marks on various types of plastic or the hardest metals, and different sizes or shaped components. Laser designs allow for marking very, very small machine and human read text, 1D and 2D codes to the highest contract marks needed. There are no consumables. Unlike micro-percussion, lasers do not require fixtures of the part, though optional stands are available. Quieter than micro-percussion, marking lasers can be integrated or stand alone on a bench-top in a self contained enclosure. Software is multi-lingual and intuitive; five clicks and you are marking.

 MICRO-PERCUSSION
   - Integrable
   - Stand alone
   - Portable

Micro-percussion (indent marking) technology uses a rapidly vibrating, computer guided stylus to create the mark. Technifor‘s XF range of compact marking heads easily adapts to end user needs: integration, bench-top or portable. Their micro-percussion technology does not use inks or consumables. An economical marking solution for electronically controlled identification. The stylus is handled so as to produce alphanumeric text, 2D machine-readable codes, symbols, logos or virtually any other type of mark. An extensive range of materials can be marked, including plastic, glass, leather, paper, wood, expanded polystyrene, and most metals except hardened steels.

 SCRIBING
    - Quality marking without the noise

Scribing machines use a hardened pin to mark the surface of components. Compared with MicroPercussion, scribed marks have a smoother, more continuous appearance. The marks therefore benefit from a higher quality appearance and the marking process is quieter. Controllers and programming software are the same as for Technifor's rapid indent machines.
