Cyanoacrylates
Cyanoacrylates are often referred to as an “instant adhesive” or “super-glue.” A Cyanoacrylate is a one-part adhesive formulated to cure by reacting to minute traces of surface moisture, thus eliminating the need for costly ovens. A cyanoacrylate’s strongest feature is the ability to set quickly, often in less than a minute. A normal bond reaches full strength in two hours and is fully waterproof. These adhesives also offer gap-filling capabilities ranging from 0.006 to 0.02 inches.
Cyanoacrylates are available in a range of viscosities. Low- and medium-viscosity formulations provide superior bonding to all types of plastics, wood and other porous materials. High-viscosity cyanoacrylates are designed to eliminate dripping in vertical applications and allow for gap-filling as large as 0.025 inches. These adhesives bond well when joining metal-to-metal and rubber-to-metal (with a 30 second cure time), and have strengths up to 2000 psi to ensure that the bond will be quick, durable and long lasting.
